Reykjavik Day 2

We woke up early, before our alarm and decided we might as well get up. We needed to be out of our cabin by 8am, and off the ship by 9am. Breakfast in the dining room was until 8:30, so we decided to go there and have a leisurely breakfast. Hardly anyone there, I guess they all went to the buffet. We're in no hurry to get off, as we won't be able to get into our hotel room until afternoon.

The information that Azamara gave us about transportation from the ship was very confusing. They had said that the port shuttle and taxis wouldn't be available from our dock and that unless we wanted to walk for over a mile the only option was their shuttle that went at an ungodly hour. As there was no way we were going to do that, we figured out our own way. And because we were there the day before we were able to check things out easily. There was a local bus stop about a 5 minute walk from the ship, a bus went every 1/2 hour and took us with-in a block of our hotel. So very easy. It also looked like the port shuttles were running, so we suspect we could have done that as well.

At our hotel, the Centerhotel Arnarhvoll we checked in and stored our bags before heading out to Sky Lagoon. We took the local bus again, which involved 1 change and about a 20 minute walk. We were a bit early so had an expensive coffee (pretty well everything is expensive here - about $7.00 each) At 11:30 we got access and changed into our bathings suits, showered and entered the Lagoon. It's a lovely setting looking over the ocean. We spent quite a bit of time relaxing in the lagoon which is quite large with lots of little bays areas to sit. Not crowded at all. Then we did the "ritual" which is a cold plunge, a dry sauna, a salt scrub, a steam room, then a shower. After that back into the lagoon. I guess we were in the pool for a little over an hour. It was really a lovely experience and my skin feels great. I didn't take any pictures as I wasn't going to risk my phone or camera getting wet. Going back we just missed a bus so had a bit of a wait. When we got back to our hotel our room was ready and we had a chance to relax and for me to check emails and work on my blog before we go for dinner.

We went to a little Fish and Chip place in the old harbour area that one of the agents on the Seminar at Seat had recommended. A very simple place, no liquor license and limited menu. Very good fish & chips! We have a full day tour tomorrow, so early to bed.
